WASHINGTON – Following the release of the National Defense Authorization Conference Report, Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Mary L. Landrieu, D-La. and Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, along with committee members Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., Scott Brown, R-Mass., and Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., made the following remarks in regard to the reauthorization of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs for another six years. Do You Need to Close a Business in 2011?

For one reason or another, it might be time to shut the doors on your business. Maybe you and a friend formed an LLC for an online venture a few years ago, but over the past year, you’ve both moved on. Maybe you launched a dog-walking business last year, then decided to get a full-time job instead.
